know Jesus

The most important message you will ever receive is this: God created the world, everyone, and everything in it to be good. In fact, when He finished creating the world on the sixth day He looked upon all He had made and said the words “it is very good.” He would walk in the Garden with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. It was a glorious and beautiful time. I can see the joy on the Lord’s face as he shows His creation to Adam and Eve.

Then something happened that plunged everything into darkness and chaos. Man sinned. He rebelled against God, falling for the lie that is still prevalent today, that somehow God was holding something good back from us. The oldest one in the book took mankind down and the world with him. Pride. From that moment on everyone born on earth except one Man, was born with a broken and twisted nature within. It’s why we look in the mirror and express disappointment in ourselves (when we are being honest that is) not even measuring up to our own standards. “What was I thinking!” It’s why when we look around the world, we see so much that’s wrong. The amazing creation and gifts of God twisted from their intended uses. Whether it’s drugs, sex, or alcohol the world can be a rough place. It doesn’t end there. There are murders and rapes. There are thieves who not only steal products but identities. There are liars everywhere. At work, at home, and, even in our own mirrors. When man fell he made sure to make a big splash.

The good news is that God had a plan all along to take care of the mess we were going to make. He has taken responsibility for His creation by offering us a way back! The Bible teaches that Jesus was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Jesus being God the Son was in on this plan from the beginning. So all down through the centuries men have been pointed to Jesus and given hope.

John 3:14–18 (NKJV)

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Here we see that hope and plan on brilliant display. Jesus was lifted up on the cross to pay the penalty for all the sins of all the world of all time. Your sin, my sin everyone’s sin. In fact, there is no one who will come to Him who will ever be cast away. My encouragement to you today is to admit your sinfulness to God, ask Him to forgive you in the name of Jesus, calling upon Him to save you from the power and penalty of that sin, and to restore you to fellowship with Himself. The Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved… if you believe, if you understand you have blown it by accident and on purpose. If you believe that Jesus is God in the flesh and that He died on the cross to take your place so that you wouldn’t have to bear such justice. If you believe that Jesus ROSE from the grave and because of this, those who call on Him will be raised also. If you trust in what He has done… call on Him once and for all.
